- 1). Clean and dry the floor. Apply flooring glue over along one side of the floor, using a glue trowel. Make the line of glue come out about 2 feet from the wall.
- 2). Lay the starting row of pine plank flooring alongside the wall, linking the boards end to end by their tongue-and-groove milling. Put 1/2-inch wall spacers between the planks and the wall, to allow for wood expansion. Cut the last plank in the row on a miter saw to fit.
- 3). Set the next row in place by setting the tongue-and-groove edge of the boards against the sides of the previous course. Set a piece of scrap flooring against the new board and tap it with your hammer until it locks in place with the previous board. Lay the whole row, and subsequent rows, cutting with your miter saw at the ends. Stagger the board ends between courses.
- 4). Proceed across the floor, course by course. Stop when you are too close to the opposite wall to continue. Let the glue set for 12 hours.
- 5). Return and install the final few rows once the first planks have set and you can stand on them. Cut the planks of the final row along their lengths, to allow for a 1/2-inch gap by the wall.
