- 1). Lay out the design of your pool house using builder's string and stakes. Allow for plumbing and electricity as needed. Mark the location of your posts and bathroom essentials with different colors of spray paint.
- 2). Dig the holes for you posts as outlined in your local building codes. Place the posts and secure them temporarily with 2 by 4s, making sure they are level. Pour the concrete and let it dry.
- 3). Frame the outside of your pool house using treated wood beams. Attach the beams to the posts using metal brackets, then add 2 by 4s to fill in the frame and to build the interior walls. Make sure all of the beams and posts are plumb before proceeding with your construction.
- 4). Run the electrical wires and water lines in accordance with your local building codes. If you're not well versed in plumbing and electrical building practices, you may want to hire a professional.
- 5). Build your floor with your desired material. If your finished material is tile or slate, you can build a plywood floor. Add the trusses for the roof.
- 6). Finish the interior walls with sheet rock, add the tin tiles to the roof and add the siding or stone to the exterior walls.
- 7). Add the plumbing fixtures and the remaining electrical components. You can now add your finished flooring material.
- 8). Paint your interior walls or tile them throughout for better durability. Add your lighting and hang your interior doors. Decorate your pool house with weather friendly furniture and you will enjoy the space for years.
