How to Build a Basement on "The Sims 3: Late Night"

    • 1). Launch "The Sims 3: Late Night" and load the family for which you want to build a basement.

    • 2). Click on the "Build" icon to begin working with the build tools. Alternatively, press "F3" to open the Build catalog.

    • 3). Locate and press the "Foundation" icon to begin building a foundation for your Sims' home. This will allow you to have a home built on a foundation with a basement included.

    • 4). Create your home's foundation by dragging the foundation tiles across the screen with your mouse.

    • 5). Hollow the inside of the foundation by removing all of the foundation tiles but the outline of the base (one tile wide all around). Remove the foundation tiles by using the foundation tool, and holding "Ctrl" while clicking and dragging over the inside tiles.

    • 6). Click the "Stairs" icon from the build mode (F3) and create three new flights of stairs inside the foundation outline (on the bare ground), each time having the stairs go deeper, connecting from the lowest level available. Alternatively, click the "Terrain" tool icon to "Lower Terrain" 12 mouse clicks, which will be the level of your basement.

    • 7). Use the "Sledgehammer" icon to delete and remove the stairs, as they are not required (only the lowest level of terrain is now needed).

    • 8). Open the "Terrain" tool and select the "Level Terrain" tool to click and drag from the lowest point of the ground (within the foundation outline at the lowest point of your three sets of stairs) to level the remaining ground inside of the foundation, bringing the floor down to basement level.

    • 9). Click on the "Stairs" icon to choose the set of stairs you want to connect the basement to the upper floor. Add the stairs from the basement to the foundation, which will connect your lower level to your home's main floor. Finish by adding additional foundation tiles to create other rooms in your house.
