- 1). Apply a coat of liquid sander to the hardwood floor with a clean cloth. Allow it to absorb into the original finish of the hardwood floor for the amount of time recommended by the manufacturer.
- 2). Brush a coat of stain onto the hardwood floor with a clean brush. Let the stain soak into the hardwood surface. Wipe off excess stain with a clean cloth and allow the floor to dry.
- 3). Apply a light, thin coat of polyurethane onto the surface of the hardwood with a clean brush. Brush with long, even strokes, taking care to not create bubbles in the finish. Allow the polyurethane to dry.
