- 1). Inspect the floor pin. See that the floor pin is secure in the base bracket, and that the bracket is firmly affixed to the floor. Use a flashlight to illuminate any shadowed parts. Push the closet doors upward against the spring-loaded top pin to re-seat the floor pin in the hole. Tighten the screw holding the base bracket to the floor with a Phillips screwdriver if it has come loose. Replace the screw with one that has larger threads if the old screw refuses to tighten.
- 2). Inspect the upper pin. Slip the upper pin inside the slot in the pivoting bracket if it has come out. Make sure the bracket is not free to slide up and down the track. The most common cause of restricted movement in folding doors is a loose pivoting bracket. Slide the upper bracket down the track until the stationary side of the folding door is plumb. Secure the bracket by tightening the holding screw with a Phillips screwdriver.
- 3). Inspect the top roller to make sure it is inside the upper track. This roller is also spring-loaded. Push down on the roller, set it under the track and release it to place it back into the track if necessary.
- 4). Push against the upper track at both ends to see that it's securely fastened to the upper opening. Secure any loose screws along the track with a Phillips screwdriver. Push up on the interior doors to remove them if necessary to reach loose track screws. Reinsert the upper and lower pins, and put the roller in the track to re-seat the folding wood doors after tightening the track screws.
