Radeon 7000 Specifications

    Video Memory

    • According to computer and technology website CNET, the ATi Radeon 7000 has a video memory of 32 MB. As the technology resource Karbos Guide explains, graphics card memory determines the resolution and speed capabilities of your graphics card. Karbos Guide notes that superior 3D graphics performance requires 16 or 32 MB devices, such as the ATi Radeon 7000.

    Memory Bandwidth

    • According to the graphics card review website GPUReview, the ATi Radeon 7000 has a memory bandwidth of 2.928 GB per second. This specification measures how fast the card can transfer memory. Although this may seem fast, GPUReview explains that the ATi Radeon 9000 has a memory bandwidth of 8 GB per second, so the ATi Radeon 7000 is not a top performer in this category.

    Fragment Pipelines

    • Fragment pipelines help your computer produce animations, and more complicated animations will cause your computer's performance to slow down if there is an insufficient number of pipelines. GPUReview notes that the ATi Radeon 7000 offers just one fragment pipeline, while a more advanced card, such as the ATi Radeon 9000, provides four.

    Maximum Resolution

    • The maximum resolution refers to the largest screen resolution upon which a graphics card can render images. According to CNET, the ATi Radeon 7000 can render images on resolutions up to 2,048-by-1,536 pixels.

    Maximum Monitors

    • If your monitor does not support high resolution, you may want to set up your computer to display images on multiple monitors so you can see everything in detail. In this case, you will need a graphics card capable of supporting multiple monitors. Although the ATi Radeon 7000 does support multiple monitors, CNET notes that it has a maximum of two monitors.

    Interface

    • The interface refers to the slot in which your graphics card is connected. GPUReview notes that the ATi Radeon 7000 uses an AGP 4X interface.

    Operating System

    • Although graphics cards are hardware, they do have certain software requirements, such as needing a compatible operating system. According to CNET, the ATi Radeon 7000 requires either Apple MacOS 9.x or Apple MacOS X to function properly. However, you can use the ATi Radeon 7000 on Windows and Linux systems if you use the Catalyst drivers provided by AMD.
