- 1). Open System Preferences on your Apple laptop by clicking on the Dock icon.
- 2). Go to the "Sharing" control panel in the "Internet & Wireless" category.
- 3). Check the box next to "Remote Login" from the list of sharing services on the left side of the window. This will enable incoming SSH connections on the laptop.
- 4). Launch the Terminal application on your desktop Mac. The program can be found in the "Utilities" folder in the "Applications" section of your hard drive.
- 5). Type "ssh computer" into the blank command prompt window, replacing "computer" with the host name or IP address of your laptop computer. If you want to log in to the laptop with a different user name than the one set up on your desktop, use the "ssh username@computer" command, replacing "username" with account name on the laptop and "computer" with the laptop's host name or IP address.
- 6). Enter a valid password to log in to the laptop computer when prompted. The terminal will authenticate your account credentials and then grant you access to the remote laptop computer.
