- 1). Turn the monitor off and unplug it from its power source. If you're using a laptop, turn it off and remove the battery.
- 2). Mix a small amount of the alcohol with an equal amount of water in the spray bottle. Alcohol is volatile, so it will evaporate quickly.
- 3). Clean the monitor housing with one of the cotton cloths dampened with water. Use even strokes, preferably away from the center of the monitor screen. You don't want to get dirt from the housing onto the screen.
- 4). Dust the screen with a dry soft cloth, without putting any pressure on it.
- 5). Spray the alcohol-and-water mix on the other cotton cloth to moisten it.
- 6). Wipe the screen gently using even strokes from top to bottom.
- 7). Moisten a cotton swab with the alcohol-and-water mix.
- 8). Dab the edges and corners of the screen with the moist cotton swab, again using the lightest pressure possible.
- 9). Wipe the screen again with the moistened cloth. Let the monitor air dry, and don't turn it on until you are sure it is dry. Give it an hour to dry, just to be on the safe side.
