- 1). Shut down the computer and wait for the Gateway 4530 to completely turn off.
- 2). Press the "Power" button and begin pressing "F12." In a moment, the BIOS startup screen appears.
- 3). Select the boot the BIOS option screen, then choose the setting you want to adjust (such as the memory timing and the processor speed).
- 4). Change the settings to your desired speed. Most RAM and processors leave a small amount of reserved speed, so it is possible to boost this in BIOS. However, doing so may run the risk of overheating and burning out the hardware because it is searching and moving faster than normal.
- 5). Choose "OK" to accept your changes, then push "Esc" to escape out of the BIOS and return to the operating system of the Gateway 4530 laptop.
