- 1). Look up to the home roof and spot a large metal rod with wire extensions radiating out from the pole. This is a home antenna. These old-style antennas received analog airwave signals to transmit to televisions. They are no longer in use, as television broadcasts are now in digital formats.
- 2). Look at the edge of the automobile hood near the passenger side windshield. Look for a small round metal circle. This is a retractable radio antenna. Turn on the car and radio and wait for the antenna to extend.
- 3). Follow the ridge of the windshield up to the roof of the car, truck or SUV. Look for a narrow, round metal rod sticking up from the edge. This is the auto windshield antenna.
- 1). Spread out the aeronautical chart or topographical map of the area you are searching in.
- 2). Consult the map legend to find the icon symbol indicating antenna or broadcast towers. For example, aeronautic charts use a purple icon in the shape of a triangle with small hash marks fanning out from the tip indicating broadcast waves.
- 3). Scour the maps and charts locating the antenna icon. Use the coordinates of the map to find the land based large broadcast towers and antenna.
