How to Make a Phone Call Using Windows Dialer

    • 1). Connect a microphone to the microphone-in jack on your computer's sound card.

    • 2). Click the "Start" menu, type "dialer" in the search field and click the "dialer.exe" icon when it appears on the results list. The Phone Dialer application appears and displays the "Connect Using" prompt if you are using it for the first time. If you have used Phone Dialer previously, click the "Tools" menu, then click "Connect Using."

    • 3). Click the drop-down menu under "Line," and select the type of connection that your voice over IP service or work network uses for telephony, such as "AgileVPN" or "RAS PPPoE Line." Ask your network administrator if you are not sure which option to choose. Click "OK" after making your selection.

    • 4). Enter the number that you want to dial using the keypad in the Phone Dialer application. If you dial the number frequently, click one of the buttons under "Speed Dial" on the right side of the window. Type the name of the contact in the "Name" field, and type the number in the "Number to dial" field. Click "Save."

    • 5). Click the "Dial" button, or click one of the Speed Dial buttons on the right side of the window to place the call.
