- 1). Keep your CD and/or DVD drives clean. Close the door whenever possible to prevent dust or debris from getting in. Buy a lens cleaner disc and use it regularly.
- 2). Keep all CDs and DVDs clean and in cases when not in use. Dirty, damaged or scratched discs can cause CRC errors.
- 3). Only use CDs or DVDs that were burned using quality software and hardware. Improperly burned disks are another cause of CRC errors.
- 4). Keep all cable connections to the computer drive(s) secure. Poor connections and loose cables can cause CRC errors.
- 5). Check to make sure all Internet or network connections are operating properly and at full strength before attempting file transfers or downloads. CRC errors often show up when there are problems with connections.
