Online Registry Cleaning

    • 1). Preserve your computer's vital information by creating a restore point in the event the registry cleaning is not successful or a problem occurs. Click the Start button and select "All Programs." Select "Accessories," then "System Tools," and finally "System Restore." Follow the prompts to set a restore point for your operating system.

    • 2). Select a registry cleaning tool that meets your needs. (Links to Regcure and Eusing Software's free registry cleaning tools are found in the resources section.) A well reviewed and recommended program is the best choice. You can find a list of these programs with comparisons on Cnet (see Resources). Follow the prompts for the program of your choice and run the scan.

    • 3). Correct the registry errors the scan reveals.

    • 4). Restart your computer, and check to see if any problems or slow operation have been corrected. If difficulties persist you can use the System Restore tool again. Follow the prompts from Step 1 to "System Restore," and choose to restore your computer to an earlier time to reverse the changes.
