- 1). Download a free registry fix such as RegistryFIX, FRF or RegCure (see Resources).
- 2). Open the program when it is done downloading.
- 3). Click on "Start Scan" or "Scan Registry" when the program is opened.
- 4). Allow the program to scan the registry. Depending on the program and the size of your computer's hard drive, this can take anywhere from 15 minutes to eight hours.
- 5). Click "fix registry" when the program is finished scanning. This will also take some time and will often require the computer to restart. Once it is done, your registry will be fixed.
