- 1). Insert the tip of the flat-edged screwdriver into the hinge at the top of the door that will be replaced by the hidden door. Pull up on the tip to loosen the hinge bolt from the door. Pull the hinge bolt out of the door with the pliers. Repeat this procedure with the hinge bolt at the bottom of the door.
- 2). Pull the door off the hinge plates attached to the wall. Put the door away.
- 3). Put the dropcloth on the floor. Put the parts of the armoire assembly kit on the drop cloth. Assemble the armoire, using the hammer, nails, wood screws and electric screwdriver.
- 4). Place a dab of bonding glue on each of the four corners of the bottom of the armoire. Place the center of a coaster against a corner on the bottom of the armoire. Let the bonding glue set for a day.
- 5). Stand the armoire on the dropcloth. Measure 1/2 foot up from the bottom left side of the armoire, using a measuring tape. Make a dot at the half-foot mark with the pencil. Measure a foot up from the pencil mark. Make another dot with the pencil. Measure a half-foot down from the top left side of the armoire. Make a dot at the half-foot mark with the pencil.
- 6). Attach one side of a piano hinge to each of the dots on the left side of the armoire, using wood screws and the electric screwdriver.
- 7). Stand the armoire against the wall in front of the doorway. Make pencil marks on the left side of the wall that correspond to the free ends of the piano hinges.
- 8). Butt the left side of the armoire against the wall so that the piano hinges touch the pencil marks. Attach the free ends of the piano hinges to the wall, using the expanding drywall screws and the electric screwdriver.
- 9). Straighten the armoire up against the wall so it covers the doorway. Open the door of the armoire. Fill the armoire with clothing. Close the door.
