The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in the home. It is where families gather and the hearth, real or metaphorical, of the household. Selecting a color that sets the tone for the kitchen should be done with care. With the many paint options, there is a color to accommodate your imagination. - A warm yellow is a classic kitchen color. Softened and toned so it is not too sharp, it produces a homey and warm effect. Since it is on the lighter side of the spectrum, it reflects a lot of light and will keep the kitchen brighter than the dark brown of most woods. It also goes well with many other colors and can fit the elements of your decor.
- Blue may seem like a difficult color given its intensity, but it conjures up the country kitchens of France or Italy for those who want a continental effect. It is darker, but the right blue, clear and bright, can still feel radiant. In addition, it is a color that goes well with traditional European hand-painted ceramics.
- White is obviously the brightest color and a good choice for a kitchen with few windows or where windows are obscured by trees or foliate. It has a clean, modern feel that accompanies stainless steel appliances well. On the other hand it can feel sterile, so offset it with warm wood where possible to soften the impact.
- A soft, tinted neutral color like sage can be a lovely base color for your kitchen. It adds warm color with a edge, but won't overwhelm the room. Select it based on the colors you already have. If it can match up with a signature piece you could have a winning combination.
