- 1). Clear away any old caulk or debris with a putty knife. Wipe off any dust with a clean cloth.
- 2). Put on your safety goggles and latex gloves. Tape the outer edges of the crack to protect the surface. You will more than likely have a section of tape on one side of the crack and one on the opposite side of the crack.
- 3). Shake the can of foam and insert the application tube to disperse the foam. Insert the foam tube into the crack and press the spray button on the can to disperse the foam. If the foam is dispersing too quickly, pull the tube out and re-position. Follow this method along the length of the crack until it is entirely filled in.
- 4). Once you have filled in the cracks with foam, let it dry completely. Cut away any excess foam with a razor blade to create a smooth edge. Remove the painter's tape. Clean up any other excess with a rag dipped in acetone. Make sure the area is dry before you proceed to the next step.
- 5). Re-caulk the area with a thin bead line of caulk and allow to dry completely.
