- 1). Lay drop cloths on the floor to protect anything that might get ruined. Move everything that can be moved away from the walls.
- 2). Clean the paneling with an all-purpose wood and furniture spray and remove the spray with microfiber cloths.
- 3). Sand the area needing repair with the sandpaper. Go with the grain of the wood and sand the area that has the holes. Sand enough to remove the finish around the area needing repair.
- 4). Preheat your iron. Wet a microfiber cloth and lay it over the area to be repaired. Take the iron and run it over the whole cloth over the area. This will help raise the wood fibers. Let the wood dry overnight.
- 5). Fill in any holes or gouges on the paneling with putty using the putty knife. Remove excess putty before it dries. Let dry overnight.
- 6). Re-stain the area with matching stain, using a thin layer and painting in the direction of the grain of the wood.
