- 1). Plug your external USB hard drive into the computer. You may be prompted to enter a password to mount the drive.
- 2). Click the Cryptkeeper icon in the system tray. In Fedora 13 and above, the icon looks like an entry pad with a key next to it. In Ubuntu 10.04 and above, it looks like a set of keys.
- 3). Click the "New encrypted folder" option in the menu. Browse for your external hard drive in the window that appears.
- 4). Select a location on the USB drive for the encrypted folder. Enter a name for the new folder in the "Name" field.
- 5). Click "OK" or "Forward," depending on the desktop interface you are using. Enter a password for the new encrypted folder, then click "Forward." The new folder is opened for you after it is created.
