Background

• Autodesk Mechanical is a computer aided design software application. The software is used for mechanical design on production lines.
  
  

Problem

• Autodesk Mechanical 2008 stores parts for the software's "parts library" within a hard disk location that is protected by the user account control function of Vista. This can cause problems with running the software.
  
  

Resolution

• There are several workarounds suggested online by Autodesk. These include moving the library files or disabling Vista's UAC feature. Once a fix has been implemented, Autodesk Mechanical 2008 will also run perfectly under Windows Vista.
