Crayola Crayon Maker 529020 Instructions

    • 1). Place the crayon maker on a flat, level surface -- do not plug the unit in at this time.

    • 2). Install the clear 60-watt candelabra lightbulb into the Crayon Maker. Open the clear lid to the crayon maker. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver and loosen the screws on the bulb compartment cover. Remove the cover and set it aside. Gently screw the bulb into the base in a clockwise direction -- do not overtighten. Replace the bulb cover and tighten the screws.

      .

    • 3). Install the melting tray. Locate the metal legs on the tray and the two support slots on either side of the lightbulb cover. Slide the metal legs of the tray into the two support slots. Push the tray forward until it clicks into place.

    • 4). Plug the crayon maker into an electrical outlet. Slide the switch on the top of the unit to "On." Open the lid.

    • 5). Snap all sides of the Crayon mold together until it is completely closed. Place the mold into the Crayon mold frame. Snap all four locking tabs together to close the frame. Slide the frame into the front of the crayon maker, then push the tabs down to secure it.

    • 6). Remove the labels from all crayons and break them in half or quarters. You can mix light and dark colors to create swirled crayons. Place three to four crayon halves or six to eight crayon quarters into each slot of the melting tray. Close the lid.

    • 7). Turn the timer clockwise to the "Light On" position. The lid will lock and the crayons will begin to melt. The unit will also light up and start a 20 to 24 minute timer for the complete melting process. When the unit is melting the crayons, the lid will lock and you won't be able to open it until the process is finished and the crayons are cooled.

    • 8). Pour the melted crayons into the mold once the crayons are fully melted and the knob points to the small "Pour" symbol. Slowly turn the pour knob counterclockwise to the large "Pour" symbol.

    • 9). Allow the crayons to cool for 10 minutes. Once the timer ends, the lid will automatically unlock. Turn the pour knob clockwise to return the melting tray back to its original position. Open the lid to the crayon maker and the tabs on the front of the frame. Remove the frame and place it in an upright position on a flat surface. Turn off the crayon maker and unplug it. Allow the crayons to cool for an additional 10 minutes before removing the mold.

    • 10

Separate the frame once the mold is completely cooled. Pull the locking tabs out from the top and bottom of the frame and pull them apart. Turn the frame over and push the mold out of the frame half.

    • 11

Separate the mold sections. Turn the mold over and carefully release the new crayons.

    • 12

Scrape off any excess wax from the mold and clean the Crayon Maker. Use a clean paper towel or cloth to wipe the tray down while it is still warm. For hardened wax, remove the melting tray from the slots and use a nonmetallic scraper to remove excess wax.
