- 1). Mix a solution of one part white vinegar and one part water in a spray bottle and apply to the tile. This will start to work on the dirt, stain and mildew on old tiles and serve as a pre-clean, making the steamer even more effective.
- 2). Remove the steam cleaner's water chamber and fill it with water up to the fill line. Replace the chamber and turn on the steamer, allowing it to heat up for use. Adjust the controls on the steamer to the proper setting for cleaning tiles, usually medium.
- 3). Hold the nozzle a few inches away from the tiles and begin to clean with a sweeping motion over the tiles. The hot steam combined with the vinegar and water solution will loosen dirt and mildew stains.
- 4). Turn the steamer off and use a dry towel to wipe the tiles clean of any moisture and dirt. Wipe them as dry as possible and open any windows or doors to let in fresh air.
- 5). Empty the water container of dirty water by pouring it down a toilet or drain. Rinse the container and replace.
