- 1). Enter an incorrect password when prompted. When the computer tells you the password it incorrect, click "OK" and then "Reset password" to change it. This option only works if you have not locked your computer.
- 2). Login to a different administrator account on the computer if you have locked it and if another account is available. Enter the administrator's password or ask that person to do it for you.
- 3). Click the "Start" button and locate the "Search" box.
- 4). Type in "lusrmgr.msc". Then, hit the "Enter" key. You may be prompted to enter the administrator password again.
- 5). Locate "Local Users and Groups" and double-click it.
- 6). Select "Users" and right-click your account. This is the account that you need to change the password for.
- 7). Select "Set Password" and type in a new password for your administrator account.
- 8). Reinstall your operating system onto the computer if you can't utilize the above options. When prompted to create administrators and passwords for the computer, you can change your password.
