- 1). Apply the chemical cleaner to all tile surfaces you will be painting. These come in spray bottles for an fast, easy job.
- 2). Sand the tiles slightly with your palm sander to rough up the tiles in order for them to hold the primer coating at the end.
- 3). Tape off any areas that you don't want to paint or prime. Since bathroom tiles are stuck together by grout between each piece, you can use paper tape to block off certain edges and grouted areas that you're not priming.
- 4). Apply the chemical adhesive with the paper towel. Allow five minutes of drying time, and then you are ready to begin priming.
- 1). Mix the EP-acrylic primer together in the paint pot that comes with the spray gun system. The EP-acrylic primer comes in a variety of glosses, semi-glosses and satin textures. Most tiling is refinished in gloss to give it a clean, sleek look.
- 2). Test the spray gun outside on a piece of paper or cardboard to make sure it works. Also practice using different strengths so you know how much primer to apply at one time to each tile.
- 3). Spray each tile individually form side to side. Be sure to let go of the spray trigger before moving to the next tile so you do not wind up with over-sprayed primer everywhere.
- 4). Allow the first primer coating to dry for half an hour, then apply the second coat.
