- 1). Choose a cotton/lycra blend fabric. You want fabric that is sturdy yet still soft with a bit of stretch to it. Lay out your 2 yards of fabric on a flat surface. Cut the length to 22-inches. Your fabric should now be 2 yards by 22-inches.
- 2). Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, lifting the fabric up so the four open corners point upward. With measuring tape take a measurement from your shoulder to hip.
- 3). Measure along the top edge of the sling. At a point 1/2-inch longer than your shoulder to waist measurement make a mark on the top right edge. Measure along the bottom edge and make a mark 3-inches longer than the top edge mark.
- 4). Cut a half circle or half smile shape from the two points you marked. Unfold the fabric widthwise and sew along the curved edge.
- 5). Turn this inside out and encase the seam. Sew a new seam across to create a French seam. Fold the fabric down 1/4-inch along the top and bottom edges. Sew the raw edges down to create a seam.
