- 1). Place an old greeting card in a size that you like face down on a sheet of card stock in a color of your choice. Lighter shades of card stock generally work best because they tend to camouflage mistakes --- such as if the typed portion of your invitation is not cut straight.
- 2). Trace the greeting card form with a pencil onto the card stock. Cut out the shape, and fold in half. This forms your greeting card base.
- 3). Set out craft embellishments that you have from around your house --- fabric ribbon scraps, paper scraps, paint pens, faux jewels, sequins and buttons. With white craft glue and glue sticks, you and your children can embellish the fronts of the cards with your own personal style. This is a great way to get your children involved in the creative process. Best of all, each invitation will be unique. Leave enough blank space on the front to write the message "You're Invited..."
- 4). Write "You're Invited..." on the front of the card using a paint pen in a color of your choice. Add extra charm to the invitations by asking your children to write the title on the front of the invitation.
- 5). Type out the event details in a word processing document on your computer. You will want to include what the event is, where it will be held, the date, the time, the dress if it applies and RSVP information. Print the page, and cut out the information. Then, paste the sheet onto the inside of the greeting card.
