- 1). Select your latch-hook canvas and your fabric in the colors of your choice. Estimate how much fabric you will need by measuring your canvas and buying enough of each color to wrap the canvas as if it were a present.
- 2). Spread newspaper or other protective covering over a table to protect the surface as you draw your design. After spreading your canvas flat, use a permanent marker to draw your design.Use different colored markers to annotate the various colors, or simply write the color names on the canvas areas.
- 3). Cut your fabric into strips measuring 1/2 an inch wide. Next, cut each of the strips into 3-inch pieces. Keep your different colors separated so you can find your pieces faster.
- 4). Begin latch-hooking your canvas according to the pattern you drew. Fold your material strips in half to form a loop, and pull through the loop through the canvas with your tool.
- 5). Fill in the entire canvas by using your selected material strips to complete your design.
