- 1). Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit; this will bake the clay after you are done modeling it. Plug in the hot glue gun to heat.
- 2). Roll out modeling clay, forming a thick roll in your hands. Divide the clay into 2-inch rolls. Shape the clay into the letters of your designated name.
- 3). Decorate the letters using scraps of other colors of clay to press dots or stripes onto the letter. Use as many colors as you like. Try mixing colors together for a cool, cracked look.
- 4). Line a cookie sheet with wax paper. Place the letters onto the wax paper lined cookie sheet in a single layer and place in the oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until clay is hard.
- 5). Remove clay letters from the oven and let stand until cool. Use the hot glue gun to place a small dab of glue on a magnet. Press the magnet to the back side of a letter using slight pressure. If you push too hard, you will break the clay.
- 6). Continue to glue the magnets to the back of each letter. When done, place your magnet name on a refrigerator or metal surface.
