- 1). Cut 5 oranges crosswise so that each slice reveals a portion of each segment and that are 1/4-inch thick. Use a sharp knife and do not remove the peel. Press the orange slices between two thick layers of paper towels to rid them of any extra juice.
- 2). Preheat your oven to 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a large cookie sheet with nonstick spray and arrange the orange slices in a single layer on the pan.
- 3). Bake the orange slices for approximately six hours, or until they feel and appear dehydrated and pliable. Turn the slices over half-way through the bake time and allow them to cool before stringing them.
- 4). Spray the dried orange slices on both sides with acrylic craft spray for a glossy look, although the spray may reduce the scent of the oranges. Allow the spray to dry in accordance with package directions.
- 5). Poke a nail through each half cinnamon stick to create a hole large enough to thread the floral wire through and set them aside.
- 6). Cut a 5-foot long piece of 22 gauge floral wire using wire cutters and bend one end into a 3-inch loop. Twist the end around the wire to secure the loop in place.
- 7). Thread a pattern of three orange slices, three bay leaves and three halved cinnamon sticks until all items have been used. Loop the remaining wire into a 3-inch loop and twist the end around the wire to secure it.
- 8). Tie a bow of taffeta or ribbon, or both, onto each loop as a decorative option and use the loops for hanging.
