- 1). Open the Windows Vista Command Prompt in administrator mode. To do so, click "Start," point to "All Programs, click "Accessories" and then right-click "Command Prompt." Select "Run as Administrator" from the context menu.
- 2). Click "Yes" on the "User Account Control" dialog box to load the Command Prompt.
- 3). Type "sfc /scannow" into the Command Prompt and press the "Enter" key. The Command Prompt will start to scan and fix any damaged system files on your computer, which also includes the Windows Media Center system files. The time it takes to complete the repair will depend on the number of system files that have been damaged.
