- 1). Make sure your phone is fully charged and in Standby mode, meaning it is ready to call but you don't hear a dial tone. (To check, hit the "talk" button, listen for the dial tone, and then immediately hit the "end" button. This puts you in Standby mode.) The phone screen can be lit or unlit, but it should be blank.
- 2). Press and hold the "menu" button at the top of the phone keypad for two seconds.
- 3). Click on the down arrow button on the control pad located in the top center of the handset just under the screen to scroll through the menu choices. If your model shows a "Dial" choice, select it. Otherwise choose "Global Setup", then "Dial Mode."
- 4). Once the "Dial" or "Dial Mode" option is highlighted, hit the "select" button to change the setting from "Pulse" to "Tone."
- 5). Click the "end" button to save the selection. Place the phone back in its base so that it can communicate the new setting.
- 6). Follow the same instructions to change your Uniden phone from tone back to pulse by selecting "Pulse" in the "Dial" or "Dial Mode" menu, clicking "end" and then returning the phone to its base.
