- 1). Stop searching for your crush online. Social networking sites allow you to easily keep tabs on the people you like the most. If you keep checking up on her, you won't allow yourself to forget about her and move on. Stop checking status updates on Facebook, visiting her blog or looking for stories about her in the online version of the newspaper. In many cases, you have an option to "ignore" her, even if you still want to be "friends."
- 2). Avoid talking about him with your old friends. Naturally, you'll want to keep in touch with some of your friends from back home. Don't ask how he's doing or whether or not he's seeing someone. Keep the focus on what's new with you and your friends' lives.
- 3). Scope out a replacement crush. Admit it -- crushes are fun. It's hard to forget about her when it's still so fun to think about her. However, when you find someone new to crush on, thoughts of your old crush will just drift away. Look for a new crush at school, at work or any of the new local stores and restaurants.
- 4). Become the person your crush would have made you. One of the main reasons that you get a crush on someone is because you think that the person could fulfill a need of yours. You might be attracted to social people because you don't have many friends or you might be attracted to artistic people because you wish that you were more artsy. Moving away is a good chance to reinvent yourself. If you want to become more social, plan to introduce yourself to at least one new person each day. If you want to become more artistic, sign up for an art class.
