- 1). Check before you travel for local wireless hotspots in the area where you will be. You will be surprised as to how many you will find in your travels.
- 2). Once you have located where a wireless hot spot is located, you will want to turn on your computer so you will be able to connect to it. If you have a plug-in network card, this would be the time to turn it on.
- 3). Find wireless networks on your computer. This can be done by clicking on the icon at the bottom of your screen, or on a Windows computer you can click on start and then network. This will allow your computer to browse and find any unsecured wireless networks in the area.
- 4). Click connect on the wireless hot spot you would like to use. Depending on how far away the signal is from your computer, this could take a few moments. Some wireless hot spots require a password to get onto the network, and you may have to ask someone for that access code.
- 5). Browse the Internet. Keep in mind that you may be on an unsecured network, so you want to make sure that you are not doing anything you would want to keep private, such as checking your banking account information, as some things could be seen by others on the network as well.
