- 1). Scrape caulk from brick with a putty knife, or similar tool such as a large screwdriver. Gloves will protect your hands and be sure to wear safety glasses to protect your eyes since flakes of brick could fly into your eye.
- 2). Remove the remaining caulk with a wire brush. Different sized wire brushes are available. Choose a smaller brush for tight spaces.
- 3). Clean brick with mineral spirits if stubborn bits of caulk remain. Pour the mineral spirits on the brick and continue to scrub with the wire brush. Mineral spirits will also help clean the caulk from the wire brush. Allow the brick to dry thoroughly before applying new caulk.
