- 1). Set up the ironing board and plug in the iron. Set the iron to its hottest setting and allow it to fully warm up.
- 2). Lay a buffer pad on the ironing board with the waxy side facing up. Cover the waxy side with a double thickness of paper towels.
- 3). Run the hot iron over the paper towels, moving it back and forth quickly for about 20 seconds. Set the iron aside and peel back the paper towels. Look for waxy residue on the bottom of the paper towels. If you see none, put the paper towels back and iron the pad again for about a minute. If there is a lot of wax on the paper towels, replace them and iron the pad some more.
- 4). Continue ironing the pad through paper towels and checking the towels frequently until the wax stops coming up. Repeat this process for all pads that need cleaning.
- 5). Allow the cleaned pads to cool completely before reattaching them to the machine. This wax removal method will help make waxing and buffing efforts more productive and will extend the lives of the pads themselves.
