- 1). Close the book and place it in a microwave.
- 2). Set the microwave to high and turn it on for 10 to 15 seconds. The microwave will kill the mildew and help dry the book out.
- 3). Take the book out of the microwave and wipe down the covers with a dry cloth.
- 4). Put the book outside in the sun -- or in a warm room if it's not sunny outside -- for one to two hours to complete the drying process.
