- 1). Examine the screws that hold the hinges to the frame. Screws with cross slots on the head require a Phillips head screwdriver; screws with one slot need a flat-head screwdriver. Or, use a power drill with the correct bit (this is the fastest way to remove several screws). Set the drill on reverse to remove screws.
- 2). Remove the screws from the bottom hinge first. (That way the top hinge will keep the door from flipping down.) Keep track of removed screws by placing them in a cup.
- 3). Use a ladder to gain access to the top hinge and remove the screws. Have a helper hold the door while removing the hinges. Set the doors down carefully, taking care not to damage the glass inserts.
- 4). Remove the hinges from the cabinet frame, if necessary.
- 5). Fill the screw holes with wood putty and allow the putty to dry. Use fine-grade sandpaper to remove excess putty and smooth the surface.
