- 1). Click the Windows "Start" button and then right-click "Control Panel."
- 2). Select "System and Security" from the Control Panel page.
- 3). Click "Administrative Tools" from the context menu.
- 4). Click the "Storage" entry in the left navigation pane to expand.
- 5). Click the "Disk Management" link under Storage.
- 6). Right-click the box labeled "Unallocated Space" in the bottom window of the right pane of the Disk Management interface.
- 7). Select "New Simple Volume" from the context menu. The partitioning wizard will launch. Click the "Next" button to continue.
- 8). Enter the size of the new partition in megabytes into the input box. Click the "Next" button.
- 9). Click the dropdown box and select a drive letter, then click "Next".

Select the Formatting Option (NTFS or FAT) from the dropdown list. - 11
Type a new name for the partition, if desired. The default name is "New Volume." - 12
Click the "Finish" button. The unallocated space will be divided into a new partition and formatted according to the specifications in the wizard.
