- The simplest solution to fix your frozen iPod is to reset it. If you have a 4th generation iPod or newer, simply toggle the hold switch, then hold down the "Menu" and center buttons until the device restarts (noted by the Apple logo showing up). For older models, toggle the hold switch then hold down the "Play" and "Menu" buttons until the device restarts. If you have an iPod touch, hold down the "Sleep" and "Home" buttons until the device restarts. All resets should take only 10-15 seconds.
- If trying to reset your iPod proves not to do the job, Apple's website suggests that you try plugging your device into its power adapter. Connecting it to AC power or to your computer's USB port may kickstart the iPod and unfreeze its program. If this does not do the trick, retry the steps for resetting your iPod while it is plugged in.
- Once you are able to unfreeze your beloved iPod, all music and data should still be saved and in working order. Some ancillary user settings may be lost, but that will not take long to readjust back to the way it was before the big freeze.
