Can You Put Games on the iTouch?

    Downloading Games Directly to iPod

    • When you connect the iPod touch to the Internet via a Wi-Fi connection, you are able to download thousands of games available from Apple's "App Store." Tap the App Store icon on the iPod and select "Games" on the "Categories" tab to see what is available. Some games are free for download, while others cost money. When you purchase a game on the iPod touch you will be charged through your iTunes account, the same way you would if you were downloading a song.

    Downloading Games Through Computer

    • You can also purchase games through iTunes on your computer. Browse for games under the "Games" tab in your iTunes window. Some games are free while others come at a price. Any games you purchase will be charged to your iTunes account. After you have downloaded a game, you upload it to your iPod touch when you "sync" the device with iTunes. You have the choice to automatically sync games whenever you connect the iPod, or manually select the games and other files you want and then sync.

    Game Center

    • One of the gaming apps available for download on the iPod Touch is the Game Center. It is unique because it is interactive. With it, you play games against an online community of friends or strangers. Play everything from logic games to racing games to card games. To access the games available at the Game Center, you need a wireless Internet connection. You also need an iOS 4.1 or later, which you can download when you update your iPod on iTunes.

    Gaming Features

    • Apple designed the iPod Touch to be a gaming machine. The 2011 version has features that enhance many types of games. For example, the "Retina" display provides high-resolution graphics with the help of LED back-lighting and an ambient light sensor. The "Multi-Touch" screen allows you to accurately use your fingers simultaneously during action games. A built-in, three-axis gyroscope also enhances action games as it senses when you tilt and jerk the iPod. Finally, the technology in Apple's A4 chip provides long-lasting battery life and fast processing.
