- 1). Turn off your Dell Inspiron and place it face down on a table. Remove the rectangular battery from its compartment on the bottom of the device.
- 2). Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove all screws on the bottom of the laptop. You can now remove the CD drive from the computer. Pull it out of its compartment on the side of the computer.
- 3). Turn the laptop right-side up and remove the hinge cover located at the top of the computer, just above the keyboard. This can be removed by simply lifting it up at the corner of the laptop and gently popping it off.
- 4). Remove the two screws from the rear of the two screen hinges located on the bottom of the LCD screen, on either corner of the computer.
- 5). Remove the screws holding the green video card in place. This green card is located in the top-left corner of the laptop, just above the keyboard. Now lift up the keyboard itself and unplug the two thick ribbon cables that connect to the back of it from the motherboard underneath. Once this is done set the keyboard aside. The internal components of the computer will now be exposed.
- 6). Locate the fan in the top-right corner of the interior of the laptop. It will be housed in plastic casing and secured to the computer with four screws. Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws. Lift the fan out of the computer and replace with a new fan (available from your Dell retailer or online) and reassemble your Inspiron 8200 in the reverse order you took it apart.
