- 1). Scrape the over-spray or splattered area with your cedar shim or plastic putty knife. Hold the tool at an angle between 45 and 75 degrees. Move with the grain of the wood and apply only enough pressure to remove the the paint without scratching the surface of the wood.
- 2). Dissolve 2 tbsp. of trisodium phosphate in 1 cup of water and dip your scrubbing sponge into the solution.
- 3). Scrub the paint spray using short strokes with the grain of the wood. Continue dipping the sponge into the solution as you work.
- 4). Towel dry the surface and inspect the area for any remaining paint. Repeat this whole process if any paint remains.
