How to Reboot in Safe Mode in Windows Vista Home

    • 1). Turn on your computer. If Windows Vista Home is already running, click the Windows "Start" button, click the arrow located next to the "Lock" button and then click "Restart."

    • 2). Continuously tap the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" screen appears. Depending on the speed of your computer, the screen may take between a few seconds and more than a minute to appear.

    • 3). Use the up and down arrows on your keyboard to select the "Safe Mode" option. If you want to be able to access the Internet or other computers on your network, select the "Safe Mode with Networking" option instead. To boot only to the command prompt, select the "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" option.

    • 4). Press the "Enter" key to boot Windows Vista Home using the selected Safe Mode option.
