- 1). Wipe down the marble surface with a damp cloth if the stain is fresh. This quickly removes the majority of the residue and prevents the stains from setting. If the stain has already set, proceed to the next step.
- 2). Wipe (or mop) the marble surface with water and a few drops of mild dish liquid. Always use a soft cloth or sponge, because marble scratches easily. In some cases, the dish soap alone can remove the stain. If this proves insufficient, continue to the next step.
- 3). Scrub your marble surface again using a stone soap or pH-neutral cleaner. Stone soaps are specially formulated for marble surfaces, and pH-neutral cleaners are safe because of their neutral pH balance. When cleaning marble, you must choose cleaning solutions cautiously due to the delicate nature of the stone.
- 4). Wipe the marble surface using a damp soft cloth or sponge to remove the cleaning solution and any remaining stain residue. Buff the marble dry using soft, clean towels. You can allow your marble to air-dry, but this may result in water spotting if your water contains any hard mineral deposits.
