- 1). Determine how wide you want your rows. You can either divide the width of your area by a given number of rows or set a width based on the needs of your project.
- 2). Create your first row either at the left or right side of the area in which you are creating rows. If you're working on paper, just use the side of the page, which is straight if factory cut. If you are working outdoors, say, in a garden, use the left or right edge of the plot.
- 3). Start at one end point of your starter row or edge. Measure a perpendicular line from the end point using the tape measure. Mark a point equal to the distance between your rows that you determined in Step 1.
- 4). Repeat this measurement from the other endpoint of your starter edge or row.
- 5). Connect the two points with a straight line.
- 6). Repeat the process to create an adjacent row.
- 7). Repeat as desired to create new rows. All rows will be straight and evenly spaced.
