- 1). Log in as an administrator and run the "Defrag" tool first on your local C: drive.
- 2). Go to the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and double-click on it.
- 3). Go to the right-hand pane of the explorer window and right-click on "Local Disk (C:)." When the drop-down opens up, scroll down to properties and left-click.
- 4). Left-click on the "Tools" tab when the "Local Disk C: Properties" dialog box opens up.
- 5). Click on the "Defragment Now" button under the "Defragmentation" section. The "Disk Defragmenter" window will pop up.
- 6). Choose "Local Disk C:" and click the "Defragment" button.
- 7). Go to the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and double-click it.
- 8). Choose the left explorer window pane, and click on the plus sign next to "My Computer."
