How to Clean a Computer of Errors

    • 1). Download and install a registry cleaner program such as CCleaner. Registry cleaners are effective in repairing registry problems that cause computer errors.

    • 2). Launch your program after it has installed and click the "Registry" button on the left panel. Place a check on all the supplied options under "Registry Integrity." This will enable the program to search deeply for registry errors.

    • 3). Click "Scan for issues." CCleaner will search the registry for missing or damaged ActiveX applications needed to run web browsers. It will also search for missing DLL files that cause application failure as well as obsolete software and unnecessary files that use system resources with no added benefit.

    • 4). Click "Fix all issues" when the scan is complete, and click "Yes" to backup the registry.

    • 5). Click "Fix all selected issues" when the backup is complete, and click "OK" to clean the registry. Close the program when the process is complete.

    • 6). Run the Disk cleanup utility to remove unnecessary files that use system resources and cause errors. To do this, click the Windows "Start" button.

    • 7). Select "All Programs." Scroll up and select "Accessories." Select "System Tools" and click "Disk Cleanup. " The Disk Cleanup wizard will begin searching the computer for unnecessary files that can be safely deleted from your computer. When the search is complete, the Disk Cleanup utility will open a new window containing its findings.

    • 8). Place a check on the following categories to remove files from them: Recycle Bin, Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, Offline Web Pages and Compress Old Files.

    • 9). Click "OK." Disc Cleanup will automatically remove files from the selected categories and clean your hard drive to prevent errors.
