- 1). Ventilate the room as much as possible. Open all windows. Turn on ceilings fans to increase room air circulation. Place box fans near windows to draw air outside.
- 2). Turn on a dehumidifier in the room. Keep in mind that the more moisture and humidity, the longer it will take the oil-based paint to fully dry and release all chemicals into the air. Using a dehumidifier will speed up the drying process by removing moisture from the air.
- 3). Place small cups or bowls of vinegar around the room. Slice several large onions and place around the room. Open a box of baking soda for additional odor absorption. Remember to absorb odors and not mask them. Spraying air freshener and lighting candles simply cover the paint smell and do not eliminate it.
