- 1). Cut around the tops of two milk cartons to remove the folded portions.
- 2). Place each carton on its side with the tops facing away from you. Cut a square hole in one side of each carton near the bottom, leaving a 1/4-inch border along the bottom and left and right sides of each hole.
- 3). Rotate each carton on its side so the holes face right. Draw a line on each carton, on the side that is facing up. Start at the bottom right corner, and draw the line at a 45-degree angle, up toward the left.
- 4). Rotate each carton on its side so the hole in the side now faces left. Draw a line on each carton, on the side that is facing up. Start at the bottom left corner, and draw the line at a 45-degree angle, up toward the right.
- 5). Make a slit in the carton along these lines. Insert a mirror into each slit. The slits hold the mirror in place in each carton so that the reflective side of the mirror faces away from the bottom of the carton.
- 6). Place the tops of the cartons together so the hole in the side of one carton faces in the opposite direction as the hole in the other carton. Tape the cartons together and your periscope is complete.
