- 1). Back up all important data before performing the reformat. Once the drive is reformatted, all data is removed from the disk.
- 2). Click "Start," "(My) Computer" and right-click the hard drive icon. Select "Format" from the list of pull-down options.
- 3). Click "Format" once again, then "Yes" when informed that all data currently stored on the hard drive is removed after formatting the hard drive.
- 1). Insert the operating system CD into the disc drive of the computer, then shut down the system.
- 2). Power on the computer and press "F8" until a start-up screen appears. Choose "Boot from CD" and press "Enter."
- 3). Select to reformat the hard drive and accept the information that all data is removed from the hard drive. Once complete, the system walks you through the installation of the operating system (which must be done now that the hard drive has been reformatted with nothing currently stored on the drive.
